New York City may well be the capital of Planet Earth.  Nearly anything you would want to do, see, consume or purchase is in New York City.  New York City is a destination topping the list for travelers the world over and is a major port of call for cruise ships. 

Getting around New York is best done on foot, by taxi, bus, or subway.  

The following list of things to do may be of interest to New York City newcomers:

Every  subject of interest is in a New York City museum.  Located primarily in the upper midtown area to either side of Central Park are the Metropolitan Museum of Art , the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim, and  the American Museum of Natural History.  

Monument and building enthusiasts will want to visit the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty,  Rockefeller CenterChrysler Building,  Stock Exchange, or Grand Central Station

Theatre capital of the world, the Theatre district above Times Square is a must.  It is easy to purchase tickets for theatre, sports and other events in advance over the internet.

 Central Park and its popular Central Park Zoo  are uptown and Washington Square is down by New York University in the area of Greenwich Village.
